P.A. players pick up two more wins at U23 fast pitch nationals
The Saskatoon Diamondbacks, armed with three Prince Albert players, are rolling at the 2018 Under-23 Men’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship in St-Leonard-d’Aston, Que.
The D-Backs, including Prince Albert’s Nick Patrick, Nick Basaraba, and Matthew Kutnikoff, added two more wins Thursday to improve their record to 4-1 with two more group stage games remaining. They beat the Owen Sound Selects from Ontario 6-4, before a 6-1 victory over the Newfoundland Canadians.
Against the Selects, Kutnikoff was 1-2 from the plate with a run scored.
Patrick picked up his second win of the tournament, pitching five innings while striking out nine batters against the Canadians.
