Pikes FC spike Wakanda in penalties to win P.A. city finals

Aug 1, 2018 | 10:15 PM

Pikes FC needed penalties to beat the amazingly-named Wakanda in the Prince Albert Senior Men’s Soccer City Finals on Wednesday at Prime Ministers’ Park.

After both teams were tied 3-3 after extra time, Pikes FC midfielder Babak Ghazanfari put on a red keepers’ top and took over in goal for the penalties. It turned to be the right decision as Ghazanfari made two saves, then scored the game winner from the spot.

Trevor Heerschop, Mike Popoff and Aidan Ghazanfari all scored for Pikes FC in regulation time. Mitera Patrick scored all three goals for Wakanda, including a blinder from 35 yards in the first half.
