For the sixth time in seven years, the Prince Albert U19 Astros were crowned provincial champions.

The team which finished second last year, went the distance this year at the tournament held in Saskatoon.

After losing 11-9 to Delisle Friday night, the Astros rallied and won both their games Saturday against the Saskatoon Selects and the Shellbrook Rangers. In the semi-finals the Astros would once again face the Rangers and this time would win 5-4. The final game pitted the Astros verus Delisle in a rematch of Friday’s first game, with the Astros coming away with the win this time, 13-12. The game was tight until the very end and two extra innnigs would be needed to declare a winner.

Rookie pitcher Troy Preymack picked up the win. The Astros will represent Saskatchewan at Nationals in Napanee, Ont. from Aug. 14 to Aug.19.
