Damage claims roll in after weekend storm

Jul 10, 2018 | 5:00 PM

More details are coming out about the extent of the damage caused when a storm struck the Lakeland area over the weekend.

SGI said damage from the severe weekend weather resulted in 485 auto insurance claims and 196 property claims so far. More claims may still come in over the next few weeks, a spokesperson with SGI said.

It is still too soon to estimate the exact severity of the damage, according to the insurance provider.

Storms around Debden, Murray Point, and Emma Lake camping areas downed trees, toppled campers, and blocked roads throughout the area Friday night. Some people became trapped inside their trailers and several communities lost power.
