Peer review, Crown consultations next steps in Humboldt bus investigation: RCMP

Peer review and consultations with the Crown are the next steps in the investigation into the Humboldt Broncos bus crash, according to RCMP.
Sixteen members of the Broncos organization were killed and a further 13 were injured when the team’s bus collided with a semi-trailer while en route to a playoff game in Nipawin April 6. The driver of the semi was uninjured. No criminal charges have yet been laid in relation to the crash, but in an update issued today, the RCMP said their investigation is still not complete.
“We are all anxious to learn the results of this investigation to assist in understanding what led to this terrible tragedy,” Supt. Derek Williams, the head of the RCMP’s major crimes unit in Saskatchewan, said in a statement. “We are committed to sharing the outcome of the investigation as soon as we can.”
According to the RCMP, the reconstruction analysis performed at the crash site by their Collision Reconstruction Team will undergo peer review in order to ensure their findings and conclusions are valid, a standard practice for complex investigations.
