For the second time in as many days, the Saskatchewan Government has ordered residents to leave the Hamlet of Crutwell.

A wildfire is currently threatening the community, according to an emergency alert issued by the province shortly after 2 p.m. this afternoon. Individuals in the small hamlet were advised to leave immediately through Highway 3 and go to the Shellbrook Senior Hall on the corner of Railway Ave. and Main St. in Shellbrook for further instructions and registration.

The wildfire was measured at around 2,100 hectares Tuesday, a growth of about 40 per cent since Monday.

Anyone who requires assistance during the evacuation was advised to call (306) 747-2178.

The province said wildfires are burning in the R.M. of Shellbrook southwest of Holbein. Residents in Holbein and those living along and south of Highway 3 were told to remain on standby and prepare for an evacuation should an order be issued.

An evacuation order was issued for Crutwell yesterday afternoon, but it was lifted roughly six hours later.
