P.A. hotel goes back to basics with original name

May 4, 2018 | 10:00 AM

The Prince Albert Travelodge will soon be the Coronet Hotel again, which was the original name when the hotel was built in 1964.

Manager Mona Selander said the decision to make the change was not a reflection of their relationship with Travelodge.

“The Travelodge has always been great with us, no question, but it was just a company decision we could be the Coronet,” she said.

The Coronet Motor Hotel became the Travelodge in 1998. The change back to the Coronet becomes official May 10, though the new sign went up Thursday morning.

“It just so happens the sign company was available to get the sign up and the weather was good so you always want to take advantage of that,” Selander said.

Selander said customers will not see any change beyond the branding, though the name may bring back memories for some.

“There were actually people here last night taking pictures, telling me stories, like they had their anniversary here or they got married here, so it’s kind of fun,” she said.

The hotel is owned by John Remai, who could not be reached for comment by paNOW.
