Model train and hobby show rolls in to Prince Albert

Apr 13, 2018 | 12:00 PM

Hobbyists and fans will get up a full head of steam in Prince Albert this weekend for the annual Model Train and Hobby Show.

The eighth edition of the event rolls into town. It showcases models from across the province.

Brian Randall, Club President of the Prince Albert Model Railroaders, said the show generates lots of interest in Saskatchewan’s north.

“The appetite is pretty good for this, ” he said. “There’s a lot of people that are involved in the hobby. It’s scale modelling of different things and that. People will come out and they can see a world of model railroads and such.”

Randall said the club draws a lot of different people from across Saskatchewan.

“Different clubs from around the province will bring different styled layouts. Most clubs will have two or three different designs. So they have a new one every year that they’ll bring out. It also depends on how many people work on their layouts.”

This year they have a Saskatchewan themed model they’re showcasing that Randall said had garnered a lot of attention from the public.

The show is being held at the Golf and Country Club Saturday 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Adult entry is $7, students are $4 and pre-schoolers are free.
