Would-be thief caught by resident
A Prince Albert resident apprehended a machete wielding thief over the weekend.
In the early morning hours of March 10, the Prince Albert Police Service was dispatched to a residence along 22nd Street East for a disturbance call. Upon their arrival, they were able to arrest a break-and-enter suspect, who was being held in the yard by the home owner.
According to a release issued by police, the suspect was carrying a machete however the homeowner was able to apprehend the weapon after the would-be thief dropped it on the ground. Video footage of the incident was turned over to police.
A 21-year-old male from Prince Albert was charged with possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public peace, loitering on property, and breach of probation.
