Saskatoon leads, Rivers West second after first day of Winter Games
More than 70 medals were handed out during the first competition day at the Saskatchewan Winter Games in the Battlefords, with Saskatoon taking a quick lead thanks to an impressive 10 medals in weightlifting and six in target shooting.
Overall, Saskatoon won 21 medals Monday, including nine golds, seven silvers, and five bronzes. Rivers West District came in second thanks to 14 medals, eight of which came in alpine skiing.
Prairie Central ended the first day in third place with nine medals, and Lakeland finished fourth with eight.
South East is fifth, closely followed by Regina, South West, Parkland Valley, and North.
