Thieves target local golf course

Jan 19, 2018 | 4:00 PM

The Prince Albert RCMP detachment is investigating after a break-in at the Emma Lake Golf Course.

Sometime Thursday morning, between the hours of midnight and 8 a.m., someone broke the electric gates at the approach and proceeded to enter the property. One of the outbuildings was broken in to and a portable duck blind was stolen. The fuel tanks were also cut off, but attempts to steal any fuel failed as the tanks were empty at the time.

Golf Course Manager Ross Ethier told paNOW this is the second time in four months an incident like this has happened. Ethier said he has insurance for the damage, but will still have to pay a $500 deductible.

Security cameras captured what appears to be a dark Dodge with an extended cab and a slip tank, Ethier said. There were signs to suggest the thieves cased the golf course on foot before returning with the truck, he said.
