The Saskatchewan RCMP recently made an arrest in an ongoing, multi-year fraud investigation originating in Waskesiu.

According to an RCMP spokesperson, 66-year-old George Wilson of Prince Albert was arrested by members of the Prince Albert Police Service Jan 4. Wilson was charged with fraud over $5,000, theft over $5,000, and possession of the proceeds of crime.

“These charges were the result of a two-year investigation by Waskesiu RCMP into financial irregularities that occurred from 2008 to 2015, while Wilson was employed in a position of financial authority with a Waskesiu-based organization,” an RCMP spokesperson told paNOW.

Wilson was released after promising to return to court for his next court appearance Feb. 15 in Montreal Lake. He is presumed innocent at this stage.
