Local leader reacts to Gerry Ritz comment

The sexist comment by Battlefords – Lloydminster M-P Gerry Ritz isn’t sit right with women in our community.

Ritz called Environment Minister Catherine McKenna “Climate Barbie” a termed coined by the The Rebel Media to insult the minister.

Sheryl Kimbley with the Prince Albert Grand Council says unfortunately sexism in politics still happens in today’s day and age.

“I’ve sat in meetings where you get that little pat on talk of the head. You’re know you’re getting talked down to. You get overlooked a lot of times for your opinion as well. You just need to speak louder.”

Kimbley says that women need to continue to be a voice for every community and that education for future generations is the best way to combat sexism.
