Marijuana bust, B & E arrest in busy 24 hours for PAPS

Six people have been arrested following police executing on a search warrant at a home suspected of trafficking cocaine.

On Aug. 24 at around 9:35 p.m., police acted on the warrant at a residence located at 1400 15 St. West. During the arrest, two aggressive dogs had to be subdued with pepper spray but the persons were arrested without incident.

Police searched the home and found a large amount of cash, two loose 30.3 gram bags of marijuana, eight individual 30 gram bags of marijuana contained in a large black bag, 12 one gram bags of shatter, cell phones, a functioning digital scale and packaging material.

An 18-year-old male, 39-year-old male and 39-year-old female all from Prince Albert are facing charges of possession of marijuana not exceeding three kilograms for the purpose of trafficking and a charge of proceeds of property.

The 39-year-old male is also facing additional charges for trafficking cocaine and breaching a probation order.

As well, at around 1 a.m. this morning, police were dispatched to a home on the 500 block of 19 St. West for a complaint of a motor vehicle theft. 

The resident claimed someone had entered the back door of his home while he was sleeping and taken his wallet, iPad and car keys from the kitchen and left in his vehicle.

The vehicle was located parked on the 3000 block of 4th Ave. West. Officers placed spike belts behind the tires and waited for the suspects. The two suspects were seen walking and one entered the vehicle, started it and attempted to reverse but ran over the spikes. 

The suspect attempted to bring the truck forward again but officers approached and commanded him to stop the vehicle. The male fled from the vehicle on foot and officers brought in Police Service Dog Febee to track the suspect. He was found and later taken into custody.

The other stolen items were located in a backpack inside the stolen vehicle and returned to the owner. 

A 21-year-old male suspect from Pinehouse Lake is charged with one count of break and enter of a house, one count of committing theft of a motor vehicle, one count of resisting officers by running away from police members, one count of having in their possession stolen property not exceeding $5,000 and two counts of failing to comply with conditions of probation orders.
