Something a little different at Melfort Show n’ Shine

Jun 9, 2017 | 2:00 PM

Main St. Melfort will soon be packed with cars and car enthusiasts.

The 28th annual XFM Melfort Show n’ Shine, brought to you by the Melfort and District Chamber of Commerce, will take place on June 16.

It will be the first time the North East Off Road Association will hold demonstrations at the car show. Co-founder Joel Boen said normally they just display their cars, but this year will be different.

“We’re going to set up our ramp on Main St. and we’ll be doing demonstrations in front of the crowd,” Boen said.

Every June the association holds a summer event for people from all over the province to come out and camp for three or four days.

Long time car show attendee Tim Bulicz, has been showing cars in the show since he was a teenager. The Melfort resident runs a small company, White Line Racing. He builds hot rods and motors, and does work on classic cars.

Bulicz said he’s been into cars since he was old enough to hold a wrench “because of the power and noise, the smells.”

“I’ve always just been into horsepower and racing, it’s one of my hobbies I’ve had forever,” he said.

Normally, Bulicz brings two or three cars of his own to display while 20 to 30 other cars in the show will be cars he has personally helped build in some way. He said its gratifying to see the finished products.

“It’s amazing to get out and see what people have done and built. Some people have stuff in the garage that you’ve never even seen before that will surprise you when they bring it to the show,” Bulicz said.

The event will kick off with a barbecue at Riverside Melfort Chrysler from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and the car show to follow from 3 p.m. to midnight.
