Obsession Greenhouses continues to grow as a labor of love. The business, located in St. Louis, literally started by accident because of Betty Rancourt’s obsession for growing her own plants.

A hairdresser by profession, Rancourt ran her salon from her home. Her customers fell in love with the plants she grew and she started giving them away. Soon they wanted to buy them and made requests for other types of plants and flowers.

Demand for Rancourt’s plants and flowers grew and by 2002 they built a larger greenhouse within the village. “It wasn’t long before we were running out of space again,” said Rancourt.  They moved their greenhouses to the new property where they are currently located.

The two large greenhouses are brimming with standard greenhouse fare along with unique plants and they have a gift store too.

Today, they carry vegetables, herbs, flowers, grasses, perennials, baskets and a large selection of giftware in the main storefront.
