The sexual assault trial of a decorated former SJHL player continues today in Melfort.

Garrett Dunlop, 21, originally from Nanaimo B.C., is charged with sexual assault and sexual interference. The trial began yesterday morning at Melfort’s Court of Queen’s Bench.

Dunlop played for two seasons in the SJHL and was decorated both years. He was named SJHL Rookie of the Year at the end of the 2014-15 hockey season with the Nipawin Hawks, and was the team’s leading scorer the following season.

Four days have been set aside for the trial, which is expected to run until Thursday.
