Victoria hospital over capacity

Apr 10, 2017 | 1:47 PM

A large influx of patients into the emergency department at Victoria Hospital is causing some delays.

Doug Dahl with the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region said there is no one cause for the increase in patients.

Adding to the delays, is the fact the hospital is also overcapacity on inpatient units. As a result, emergency department staff will respond to patients with life-threatening or serious health concerns first. Patients with non-emergency or non-urgent health care concerns may have to wait some time before their condition is treated.

The health region suggests patients contact the HealthLine for questions about a health concern, and are urging patients with non-urgent issues to contact their family physicians or visit one of the walk-in clinics in Prince Albert.
