Forest catches fire near MacDowall

A portion of the Nisbet Forest, which has become a tinder box in recent days caught fire south of Prince Albert Wednesday.

The wild fire was discovered at around 1:30 p.m.and firefighters, along with air tankers, worked to create a perimeter around the fire, which was reported to be 40 hectares in size.

Traffic was slowed for much of the evening on Highway 11 between Duck Lake and MacDowall.

As of Wednesday evening, it was unclear whether fire crews had the blaze under control.
