Kelsey Trail Health Region mandates visitor restrictions after two separate outbreaks

The Kelsey Trail Health Region is dealing with two separate outbreaks at health care facilities.

A respiratory outbreak has been declared at the Carrot River Health Centre with five long-term care residents and three staff suffering from cough and fatigue.

Two patients and one staff member are displaying symptoms the gastrointestinal illness Norovirus at the Hudson Bay Health facility.

“Norovirus causing gastrointestinal symptoms is circulating in many communities. People may carry the virus without being symptomatic and can transfer it to others,” said Dr. Mohammad Khan, Medical Health Officer for the Kelsey Trail Health Region.
