Sasktel expects high call volume for Mothers’ Day

Mother's day is on Sunday, and many people from across the province will be calling their mom's.

Sasktel said that more often than not, Mother's Day is their busiest day for the year, in terms of calling volume.

“We expect more than 1.2 million long distance calls on Sunday,” said Andy Tate, Sasktel spokesman.

He said cell phone will make up about a third of them.

“Last year we have 370,000 wireless long-distance calls, this year we expect about 400,00 wireless long-distance calls.”

Tate adds while the network can handle high volumes of calls, there's always the chance you could get busy signals or other problems if you call between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.
