Canadian men off to Morocco in October for two international soccer friendlies

TORONTO — Michael Findlay will serve as interim coach next month when Canada plays a pair of international soccer friendlies in Marrakech against Mauritania and host Morocco.

The Canadian Soccer Association is looking for a new men’s head coach after electing not to renew the contract of Spaniard Benito Floro earlier this month. Findlay was an assistant coach under Floro.

The Canadian men, currently ranked 103rd in the world, play No. 96 Mauritania on Oct. 7 and No. 58 Morocco on Oct. 11.

Canada is 0-1-1 against Morocco with the last meeting a 1-1 tie in Montreal in 1994. Canada sports the same record against Mauritania, with both games coming in 2013 in Spain.
