Turning lemons into wishes across the province

Aug 6, 2016 | 12:00 PM

Lemonade stands will be set up across the province next week for a great cause.

Make-A-Wish Saskatchewan is launching its first ever Lemonade for Wishes fundraiser Aug. 13 and 14.

Regional manager Allyson Wall said the organization is asking kids and adults to sign up and host lemonade stands in their communities.

“We’ll send them a lemonade marketing kit with posters, (and) ‘thank you stickers’ to give to the people that support them and donate to them,” Wall said. “As well they get their own online fundraising page so if their grandparents or aunt wants to support them but can’t make a lemonade stand, they can make their donations online to them.”

Wall said people have already signed up for stands all across the province, including Prince Albert, Melfort, Warman, Saskatoon and Regina.

As well, she said kids can also have their lemonade stands on a different day other than the aforementioned dates.

“It’s our first year trying it so every cent helps,” she said. “Our main goal is to create awareness first so we will be happy with anything we raise.”

Make-A-Wish is a non-profit organization which helps grant wishes for kids aged three to 17 with life-threatening medical conditions.
