The 17-year-old accused of shooting a 15-year-old in the face in late 2015 has pleaded not guilty.

His lawyer entered the plea Wednesday, March 23 at Prince Albert Provincial Court. The accused was in court.

The trial is set for June 29 at 9:30 a.m. Nine to 10 witnesses are expected to be called in the trial, which the Honourable Judge Schiefner called “ambitious.”

If required, the trial may extend into June 30.

The accused shooter has been released on bail with strict conditions. He is under the supervision of a responsible adult, and is required to stay inside the house 24 hours a day unless accompanied by the responsible adult or his grandmother.

He was also directed by court to seek counselling.

The incident occurred Dec. 29, 2015 when the 15-year-old was shot in the 1700 block of 14th St. W. The accused was arrested the same day.
