Roughriders acquire receiver Price from Ottawa

The Saskatchewan Roughriders felt the price was right when making a deal with the Ottawa Redblacks.

The Riders acquired receiver Maurice Price and a sixth-round draft pick from Ottawa for a sixth and seventh-round draft pick. All draft picks are for the 2016 CFL Draft.

Price joins the Riders after just one season in Ottawa after the Redblacks acquired him in a deal last off-season. Before that, Price played three seasons for the Calgary Stampeders.

“We had an opportunity to acquire a veteran receiver with a high level of speed that can add a game breaking element to our team,” said vice president of football operations, general manager and head coach Chris Jones in a news release. 

“He is an intelligent and versatile player that has succeeded playing different roles in multiple offences.”

Last season, Price played in all 18 games for Ottawa picking up 603 yards on 58 catches finding the end zone just once.

For his career, Price has made 167 catches for 2,340 yards and 13 touchdowns. His best season came in 2013 when Price had 57 receptions for 788 yards and seven touchdowns Calgary.

Price has played in three Grey Cups winning one with the Stampeders in 2014.
