From now on every home Miller Contracting builds will receive the HOLMES Approved Homes certification, making them a company that clients know they can trust.

It’s been an exciting journey for one local couple.

After a fair bit of planning and a lot of anticipation Genevieve Godwin and her partner Mike St.Denis were excited to receive the keys to their brand new home.

The home, built by Miller Contracting Ltd., is the first HOLMES Approved Home to have completed construction in Prince Albert since Miller Contracting Ltd. received the HOLMES Approved Homes status last year.

“I am so excited I don’t know what to say – it’s just wonderful,” said Godwin. “When Miller started the building process, I knew there was going to be an end and it’s here. I don’t have any words I really am truly excited.”

Last fall, the company’s high standards and dedication paid off when Miller Contracting Ltd. partnered with other industry leading builders and received the HOLMES Approved Homes status.

“The HOLMES Approved Homes program does a few things – it recognizes those builders that are committed to quality and it also provides that home builder with somebody who is going to hold them accountable, which I think is a good thing,” Dan Yungwirth, General Manager of Miller Contracting.

The HOLMES Approved Homes program integrates proper building practices with cutting edge technology and products to build homes that go above and beyond residential standards, from foundation to final inspection.

“We strive all the time to do better and I think this program has helped us to do that even more so.  And, we know that someone is going to be checking our work and we are not going to get away with cutting a corner. Not that we would anyway but it’s just a constant reminder that we are doing this for a reason; that is, to make sure that people have a home that’s safe, secure and is going to last.”

Godwin said she had been looking at purchasing a new home for a few years but she couldn’t decide whether she wanted to build new on their land, purchase land and build or update the home she was currently living in.

“We looked around, we talked to different people and then one day I decided ‘Let’s call Miller Contracting’ and I think I spoke with Dan on the phone and he said ‘Sure, lets have a look and see what you guys want to do.’ and that is pretty much how it all started,” she said.

Godwin said she is very happy with her decision to work with Miller Contracting and she feels an extra bit of security knowing that her home is a HOLMES Approved Home.

I wouldn’t have picked anyone else,” said Godwin. “I am glad I went with Miller as they are a well-known name in Prince Albert, they have been in Prince Albert for years and they are almost like friends. My family knows the Millers and because of that I just felt very safe and secure with their company to build our home.”

“The HOLMES Approved Homes status is just an absolute bonus.  It’s just unreal,” she added.

Godwin’s completed home is a 936 square foot bungalow that Yungwirth said was completely her own design.

“They came to us with some ideas and some drawings and some features,” said Yungwirth. So really it is the homeowner’s heart and soul that went into this design and I just really think that it goes to show that a house doesn’t have to be massive to be functional. A custom home is just that, it is a custom home that works for the home owners who designed it and who are going to live there and this one does that very, very well.”
