New colours for Prince Albert’s police chief

Apr 11, 2011 | 4:36 PM

Prince Albert Police Chief Dale McFee has traded in his green and gold for some blue and white.

During the playoff run between the P.A. Raiders and the Saskatoon Blades the top cop from each city entered into a friendly wager that would see the losing team’s police chief wear the other team’s jersey for the day.

It all started when he got a call from Saskatoon Police Chief Clive Weighill, said McFee.

“He’d been probably reading the paper and said he had the favorite there and we had the heavy underdog but you know what? I was pretty proud of our guys … I think we took some good strides and at the end of the game it was good fun,” McFee said.

The Saskatoon Blades took the playoff series in six games meaning, McFee would have to change his wardrobe for a day.

The Chief had no chance to keep a low profile while he fulfilled his wager duty. The Jersey handoff took place in a room full of McFee's colleagues at the Association of Chiefs of Police meeting in Prince Albert today.

“I can’t say I’m real comfortable in a Blades jersey, obviously never had one on before but at the same time it was for a worthwhile cause and certainly amongst sportsmanship,” McFee said.

Weighill and McFee were all smiles as the chief showed off his new apparel. McFee didn’t appear too worried as he joked about a day coming where he could return the favor.
