With rising real estate prices and skyrocketing new home construction costs, many people may be feeling that their dream of home ownership or living in a new home has been pushed out of reach.

Marvin Read, President of Prince Albert’s Escalade Homes says not to despair because there are viable options with manufactured, modular or ready-to move (RTM) homes. His company is an exclusive dealer for Triple M Housing who specializes in modular, manufactured, and RTM homes.

Unlike the traditional stick built home, the factory-based process for building these homes provides for higher levels of quality control. Since all construction is carefully planned and executed, there are no last-minute problems or conflicts that traditionally lead to costly delays or revisions of building plans.

Building efficiently produces cost savings. All homes are built indoors in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Lethbridge, Alberta.

“Better quality control and faster completion are some of the benefits that homebuyers will experience when they purchase a home through us” states Read. “You are not waiting on trades and the weather is not holding you back and there are also no surprises… when we finalize the number that is exactly what it is. There are no cost overruns; we know the total cost when the order is placed.”

Marvin Read, President of Prince Albert’s Escalade Homes says not to despair because there are viable options with manufactured, modular or ready-to move (RTM) homes.

One question many people ask is what the difference is between the three home types. Read explains that the term ‘Modular’ refers to homes “built to various stages of completion at our factory, usually two or more large pieces (modules). They’re then moved to the construction site for final assembly and finishing. Once completed, modular homes are typically indistinguishable from typical site built homes and are approved by most urban municipalities for residential lots.

Size is also not an issue when it comes to purchasing and customizing a modular home. The Masterpiece Series that is offered provides the option to build your home as 2 or 3 pieces or as one piece from the factory and can range from 1200 to 2457 square feet. Their City Series offers duplex, 2-storey, 2-storey duplex, infill homes and bungalow/split entry are designed for the urban market.

Whereas ‘Manufactured’ refers to homes built and assembled within the factory and typically leave our factory in a more finished state than modular homes. Though many are placed on permanent foundations, this is not a requirement.

“Many first time home buyers in rural areas choose this option,” said Read.

The biggest advantage that sets the Triple M Housing product apart from other options is that they are the only factory homebuilder in the industry that offers a 20-year warranty on all new homes. Escalade Homes are the exclusive dealer of Triple M Housing in northern Saskatchewan.

The third home type is Ready-to-move (RTM). These homes are completely constructed off site then moved to the lot as one complete unit affixing it to a foundation.

“When it comes down to it the main difference (between a factory built home and a stick built home) is the process of getting to that end product. It’s just a different way and ultimately faster method to get to that end product. You can be living in a new home in as little as 8 weeks!”  said Read.

For interior design, “You can pick your counter tops, you can pick your flooring,” Read added. “You can choose granite, you can choose tile flooring, hardwood flooring the sky is the limit. Whatever you want and whatever you want to spend it is up to you.”
