Raiders trip Tri City 5-3

Oct 15, 2015 | 12:42 AM

The Raiders rebounded from a 2-1 deficit to post a 5-3 win over the Americans in Tri City making it back to back wins on their U-S road trip.

The Prince Albert pack fell behind as they didn’t have the kind of jump from the night before in Portland during the opening frame getting outshot 13-4, but battled back in the second period. Seconds after Rylan Parenteau made a great save on an odd man rush by the Americans, Dylan Stewart’s long pass on a two-on-one break was blasted home by a Sean Montgomery one-time slap shot to tie the game with just over 8-minutes left in the middle frame.

Reid Gardiner put the Raiders ahead to stay about two minutes later on a goalmouth scramble that developed after a Brendan Guhle point shot was blocked.

Cal Babych’s deflection of a Jesse Lees point shot about five minutes into the third period stood up as the winner while Matteo Gennaro put the game away at 15:27 jamming home a Guhle rebound with a power move through the crease. Gennaro’s insurance goal came a couple of minutes after he put a backhander off the post following a fast and furious deke on a breakaway.

Austin Glover who opened the scoring for the Raiders added an assist and earned praise from assistant coach Kelly Guard during the 900 CKBI post game show. Guard felt Glover’s overall game which included blocking shots during penalty kills showed leadership. Guard also said they found a way to win in a game that that was more defensive than the night before and lacked flow at times.

Rylan Parenteau also posted back to back victories with 31 saves. Americans goalie Evan Sarthou faced 28 shots including 13 in the third period.

Both teams had two power plays with the Americans scoring the lone power play goal during a 5-on-3 advantage.

The Raiders have Thursday off and head into Fridays game in Spokane with a 6-2-0-1 record. The game against the Chiefs starts at 8:05 with 900 CKBI signing on at 7:45.
