Police respond to over 250 calls; abandoned children, impaired drivers, missing teen

The Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) responded to a large amount of calls between Friday night and Sunday afternoon.

There were 267 calls for service over the weekend, with the majority coming in on Friday night.

Most of the calls into PAPS were related to public intoxication and disturbances.

Missing Teen

PAPS is asking for assistance in locating a missing teen.

Morgan Hystad has been missing since June 21. She was last seen that same day in Prince Albert around the 400 block of 28th Street East.

Hystad is described as 5’2”, 250 lbs, brown eyes with hair shaved on side and dyed blue and green on the other side.

Anyone with information on any of these teens are asked to contact PAPS at 306-953-4222 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Other incidents

On Friday night just before 9 p.m. police responded to an abandoned child call. A very young child was found walking along the 200 block of 13th Street West. The Mobile Crisis Unit was called and helped locate the family of the child.

Saturday night just after 7 p.m. police would respond to another call of an abandoned child. A very young child was walking around 13th Street at Second Avenue. Again the Mobile Crisis Unite was brought in and located the child’s family.

There was also a third call to police about a pair of abandoned children. The two were found walking around Parkland Hall. Mobile Crisis Unite was brought in and located the child’s family.

On Saturday morning just after 2 a.m. police were patrolling the 600 block of River Street West. They suspected a driver was impaired by the way they were driving. A 22-year old man was arrested.

Another impaired driver was nabbed shortly after that at around 3:30 a.m. Police would located this drier in the 2000 block of Sixth Avenue East. A 21-year old man was arrested.

Both impaired drivers were released and have a court date.

On Saturday afternoon just before 1:30 p.m. police were called to an accident at Marquis Road and Sixth Avenue East. Luckily the injuries in the accident were only minor. Two cars were involved and both sustained about $1,000 worth of damage.

Just before 5:30 a.m. on Sunday morning police responded to a single vehicle accident in the 200 block of Marquis Road East. The vehicle hit a light standard, knocking it down. Police continue to investigate the accident.
