Jun 23, 2015 | 7:35 AM

Tearful eyes, fancy gowns, flowers, and saying goodbye to long-time friends are a familiar sight at this time of year.

It’s time for graduation in Prince Albert, and students from various secondary schools across the city are preparing for what comes next.

Prince Albert Collegiate Institute students take the stage first, and Principal Dawne Adams said the school has grown with a diverse student body. The graduating class is 70 per cent Metis and First Nations, she said.

“With community partners and support within our community, there are excellent scholarships that are going out to the graduates.”

The growth of student population has also meant upgrades to the school including the stage in their drama room.

There will be 30 students graduating from PACI on Tuesday.

Wesmor is taking the stage on Wednesday.

More than 300 students from Carlton Comprehensive will be taking the stage at the Art Hauser Centre on Thursday.

Carlton’s principal, Dawn Kilmer, said she’s very proud of her students showing strong leadership and role model skills during this year.

Similarly, Mark Phaneuf, principal of St. Mary High School, said his students have shown themselves as strong role models throughout the year’s events.

Phaneuf said that students have really taken charge and put together events and projects that have make their school proud.

More than 130 students will be graduating from St. Mary this year.

On Friday, students from Rivier Academy will take their walk across the stage as well.
