Summer in the Square soon to be back again

Jun 15, 2015 | 6:13 AM

For another year the Prince Albert Downtown Business Improvement District (PADBID) is bringing back Summer in the Square.

It’s put on in conjunction with the Prince Albert Farmer’s Market, along with SaskTel as their sponsor.

Summer in the Square runs alongside the market on Central Avenue on Wednesday mornings.

Lori Bourne, even co-ordinator with PADBID, said the event is to offer families some free entertainment for their kids.

“We decided as a downtown we wanted something to draw families downtown to see the Farmer’s Market and do a few things so we have set up children’s activities.”

Summer in the Square will run from July 8 to Aug 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the Farmer’s Market on Wednesday.

Wednesday’s markets are located on Central Avenue from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Bourne said each Wednesday a different group will be coming out and hosting games and crafts, including the Prince Albert French Society.

Bourne said it’s fabulous to have these groups come out and help.

“I will also have free books to hand out to the kids like last year, (the books) are from Value Village. It’s fabulous because I can give out free things to the kids, they get to do some free crafts, maybe some free games and they get to enjoy the outside air at Memorial Square. They can also go through and see the Farmer’s Market with their parents.”

Any group interested in helping out can call PADBID at 306-763-1802.
