Mar 27, 2011 | 9:05 AM

The Saskatoon Blades have opened the playoffs with an 8-1 win over the Prince Albert Raiders and there were a couple of key turning points.

Dalton Thrower’s shot late in the first period was stopped by Jamie Tucker, but banked in off Raider forward Shane Danyluk.

After Todd Fiddler got the Raiders on the board early in the second to make it a 3-1 game, the Blades would respond with a goal of their own to start five unanswered in second period.

Dalton Thrower led the Blades with two goals as they had singles to round out their scoring.
