Icehawks’ future depends on replacing GM

Apr 7, 2015 | 5:54 PM

The Prince Albert Icehawks’ upcoming season could be in jeopardy if they can’t find another general manager (GM).

That spot has just become vacant; long time GM Allan Pasloski is stepping down. He’s been with the Icehawks since the team’s inception in 2008. Pasloski will remain with the Icehawks at the end of the month to address the Prairie Junior Hockey League annual general meeting April 25.

“It’s been my life for seven years,” said Pasloski. “I started it with Blair Madsen seven years ago, [for] the graduating midget kids. We heard about it for so many years, they had no place to play once they’re done midget, that’s why we started it… it’s given P.A. kids a chance to play at a good level, without having to move away from home.”

Pasloski said the main reason behind stepping down was he has to take care of some personal health issues.

But there are other reasons. Pasloski also added that the Icehawks could use a shake-up in personnel.

Over the past three seasons, the Icehawks have a combined record of 22-87-9, finished last in the Prairie Junior Hockey League twice and have been last in their division three times.

“I just think the team needs a new look and needs to set a different course, maybe, little bit of leadership at the top,” said Pasloski.

Over the last seven years, Pasloski has looked after the GM duties. The duties cover the day-to-day operations of the team, marketing, sponsors and setting the direction of the team with the board.

The Icehawks are actively looking for a replacement. Interested parties can contact Pasloski himself at 306-960-3117 or apasloski@unitechoffice.ca.
