SaskPower warning customers of phone, email scams

Jan 8, 2015 | 11:06 AM

Some SaskPower customers have been getting calls and emails from scammers claiming to be from the provider.

In a news release issued on Thursday morning, SaskPower explained how a customer had been called by someone pretending to be an employee of the provider. The person said unless the customer bought and supplied a serial number from a credit card, her power would be cut off within an hour.

Luckily, the woman didn’t fall for the trick.

SaskPower is also reminding customers about phoney emails that ask them to download their bill. The email comes with a zip file attachment. SaskPower says it does not email customers to have them download a bill or provide account information. Rather, customers can log on to MyPower Account to look at their bill when it’s ready.
