Regina Food Bank wins Great Canadian Food Fight again

Regina is the defending champion of Great Canadian Food Fight after collecting 300 tonnes of food this weekend for the Regina Food Bank.

“We’re proud to say that once again, Regina came out as Canada’s most caring community,” commented Food Bank CEO Steve Compton.

Compton says the success all comes down to the team of volunteers collecting donations for 48 hours.

“They represent youth. They represent faith community, business community. Just concerned individuals and I think that’s kind of our unique ingredient and our recipe for success over the last few years,” Compton said.

He notes that the food bank can always use more donations of non-perishable food, but 300 tonnes will go a long way to support families who can’t quite make ends meet.

“The early part of spring optimistically or certainly the late part of winter, so for around five or six months hopefully,” Compton said.
