CRA Fraud

Police officials are warning the public to be aware of a new e-mail scam involving the Canadian Revenue Agency.

According to officials e-mails have been sent out across the country where the scammer claims to be from the CRA and is trying to e-mail transfer money to the recipient.

The e-mail often asks for credit or social insurance information.

Police remind residents that the CRA will never e-mail requests and will only send money via mail or direct deposit to your bank account.

If you feel you have been targeted by a fraudster please contact the RCMP’s Anti-Fraud Centre by e-mail at info@antifraudcentre.ca or call 1-888-495-8501.
