Late penalty prevents chance for a Raider comeback

Mar 5, 2011 | 8:28 PM

The Prince Albert Raiders fell 4-2 to the Kootenay Ice on Saturday night at the Art Hauser Centre in front of a sell-out crowd.

The Ice opened the scoring just 17 seconds into the game and would add another midway through the first to take a 2-0 lead into the second period.

The Raiders responded with an early power play goal from Mark McNeill. McNeill received a pass from Todd Fiddler from behind the net, walked out front and slid a shot past goaltender Nathan Lieuwen to get the Raiders within one.

Three minutes later the Ice would score a power play marker of their own and took a 3-1 lead into the third.
