Weston Dressler clears NFL waivers

Weston Dressler is officially a free man.

Dressler was released by the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday and, as expected, cleared NFL waivers on Tuesday.

Under NFL rules, teams have 24 hours after a player is released to pick up said player and their contract. No team tried to claim Dressler so now he is free to sign anywhere he wants in the CFL or the NFL.

It's expected that Dresser will draw attention from much of the CFL.

Former Riders running back Kory Sheets was also placed on waivers Tuesday by the Oakland Raiders. His situation is different because of an injury. NFL teams now have 24 hours to claim Sheets, likely to bring him to camp next season. If he goes unclaimed, then Sheets will either return to the Raiders injured list or be bought out.
