Band of brothers make cover of local mag

One local band has had their dream of being on a magazine cover come true.

Constant Reminder, a rock band consisting of four brothers, has become well known in Prince Albert and area. Recently, they have taken over the stage at the E.A. Rawlinson Centre’s inaugural Spotlight on Talent show in February.

“Last time we were in Prince Albert, everywhere we went, people told us we had to see Constant Reminder,” recalled Christopher Ross, editor and publisher of Rezx Magazine, which features the Constant brothers on their latest issue.

“Literally every single place we went in Prince Albert, people were talking about this band, really excited about them.”

Rezx is an Aboriginal lifestyles magazine distributed throughout the province. At one point, Rezx had a northern and a southern component, but for the issue featuring Constant Reminder, Ross felt that the band needed to be promoted to all parts of the province.

“Based on the response to this band in Prince Albert, I really felt I wanted to promote them in the south,” says Ross. “Our people are very much a ‘need to hear it to believe it’ group, so it was important to promote them with a strong cover photo, something like Rolling Stone magazine would do, to spark the interest of people to read the article and find the links to their web page.”

The cover is, indeed, a rock n’ roll rebellious photo which portrays where the band is, thanks to the artistic skills of Regina photographer, Ryan Peterman of Leftboot photography.

While Constant Reminder is a band of brothers who each have started their careers very young, the cover, the photos and the story portrays a rock band that is serious about its music.

The band is happy with the results. Though their success to date is primarily due to their hard work and the flexibility of venues, for Constant Reminder, this kind of promotion is important to show Saskatchewan people who they are as a band and as a family.

“This cover and the story have been great for us because it is making the movers and shakers in the mainstream music industry aware of what we are and what we can do,” said Cole Constant, lead singer of the band.

Constant Reminder will be performing a cabaret in Birch Hills April 19.

They are also booked for Exhibition Grandstand performances at Melfort, Prince Albert and North Battleford in addition to countless local and regional events.

Rezx is distributed in Prince Albert but Ross also directs those who want to see the cover and read the article to the online version.
