PotashCorp shows Saskatchewan some love

PotashCorp said they expect another 600 people will be working for them by 2015.

The announcement, Monday, is in response to a pledge the company made to Saskatchewan during the height of the hostile take-over bid by BHP Billiton last fall.

The public promise included moving head office staff back to Saskatoon and having a greater community presence.

PotashCorp will have 300 employees working in its Saskatoon office by the end of 2013, up from 209 at the end of 2010.

There will be five more senior executives working in Saskatoon by the end of March.

The number of employees at its mines will go from 2,106 to 2,528 by 2015.

The company’s pledge also included a commitment to Canpotex, which markets and delivers the province’s potash around the world; creating more training and employment opportunities for First Nations and Metis people and increasing charitable contributions to one-percent of before tax income.
