A school in Balcarres had a few scary minutes on Tuesday when a student came to school with what the RCMP is calling a large kitchen knife.
Sgt. Neil Tremblay says the school went in to lockdown Tuesday morning for about 10 minutes.
“We received a call shortly after 10:30 in the morning advising that there was a youth in the school brandishing a knife,” said Tremblay.
Tremblay adds the 14-year-old was a student at the Balcarres Community School and had been involved in two different confrontations with other students that morning.
“It doesn't look like he came to the school with a knife with a specific purpose, but we're still looking in to that.”
He was arrested in downtown Balcarres around 11:00 a.m.
Nobody was injured and police are still confirming what charges will be laid.
