Prince Albert product Carsen Chubak was named the Atlantic Hockey Player of the Year Thursday, becoming only the second goaltender to garner the award in league history.

Chubak finished the season with a 20-3-2 record for the Niagra University Purple Eagles. He had five shutouts and ranked second in goals against (1.82) and save percentage (.939)

Chubak who tended net for the Mintos during their second Telus Cup Championship is now in Phase 2 of voting for the Hobey Baker Award, which is given out to the top player in U-S college hockey.
