An act of vigilantism in Prince Albert has resulted in a vandal being apprehended by police.

A local hockey billet was driving by the Art Hauser Center last Friday when he saw a group of youth damagaing vehicles, said Kelly McLean with the Prince Albert Police Service.

Seven vehicles were already damaged totalling more than $1,000 when the billet decided to chase them down, said McLean.

“This local billet made a decision at the time,” said McLean.

“He was zeroed in on one particular individual. It was a foot pursuit, without question. He chased him over a fence, he ran him down, he tackled him, and he held onto him until police arrived.”

While the billet managed to catch an individual without harming himself, McLean said what he did was dangerous.

“It's not something we recommend that people do. It's dangerous, (the vandal) could've been armed,” said McLean.

The youth was taken into custody and police arrested a second youth for breach of the peace.
