Reader’s Digest names Elk Ridge a ‘Must-Visit Resort’

Mar 7, 2013 | 5:25 AM

Elk Ridge Resort has been singled out by Reader's Digest Magazine as one of nine must see Canadian Winter Resorts.

It is the only resort from Saskatchewan mentioned.

“It certainly came as a surprise and certainly big kudos goes to Arne Petersen and family for the destination spot they've built here,” said Elk Ridge's director of operations Ryan Danberg.

Danberg said he is not sure what criteria went into the article. They were simply asked to submit photos and a list of their amenities to Reader's Digest.

“Up here you don't just rent an accommodation, we've got several amenities in the winter time that really are for all types of ages,” said Danberg.

Elk Ridge Resort was founded in 1993 by legendary entrepreneur Arne Petersen as a nine-hole golf course.

Elk Ridge Resort has since flourished to a full four-season resort.

Their winter amenities include a skating pond, cross country skiing, snow showing, a toboggan hill, and over 400 kilometers of freshly groomed snowmobile trails.

The resort attracts from tourists within Canada, as well as internationally.

And the recognition by Reader’s Digest could be good for business.

“It's somewhat rewarding for our owner Arne because he has put a lot of work into the resort, building it up to what it is. Certainly any kind of recognition like this will go a long ways for us,” said Danberg.
