Raiders drop 6-5 shootout decision in Moose Jaw

Oct 1, 2011 | 2:09 AM

The two points appeared to be in the bag. The Raiders were leading 5-3 and controlling the game and at times dominating in the third period when Morgan Rielly's goal with 3:10 left sparked the Moose Jaw comeback.

The Warriors tied the game on a power play and with six attackers as former Raider Sebastien Svendsen found the top corner with 46 seconds left in regulation. Raider defenseman Tyler Vanscourt had been serving a holding penalty.

Up until then, the Raiders outplayed the Warriors as Brandon Herrod played like a man possessed. The 20 year old from Meadow Lake counted two goals and two assists and was a relenteless checker in all three zones.

Mark McNeill, James Bettauer and Justin Maylan rounded out the Raider scoring and Maylan had the best chance in overtime but his breakaway backhand missed the corner.
