Canada World Youth Needs Prince Albert Host Families

Apr 16, 2011 | 5:46 PM

Ask anyone involved last year – the Canada World Youth was a positive and life-enhancing experience.

WE ARE IN NEED OF HOST FAMILIES – September-December, 2011

From September 20, 2011 to December 18, 2011, Prince Albert will host a group of 18 young people from Nicaragua and Canada on a health and community development youth volunteer program with Canada World Youth (CWY).

This will be the third of five years of CWY programming in Prince Albert. The last two years of our youth volunteer exchanges were very positive and we are extremely excited to return!

Once again, the youth volunteers’ three-month stay in the community will be the second stage of a CWY educational program. The first half of the program will take place in Nicaragua, from June 18, 2011 to September 18, 2011.

Canada World Youth would like to thank the community of Prince Albert for its incredible hospitality these past two years. For our youth volunteers from across Canada, and Nicaragua, it was a tremendous experience.

Thank you for making us feel at home in P.A.! We hope that we were able to make a difference in the community during our stay here, and that the program will continue to do so for the next three years of its stay in Prince Albert.

Canada World Youth looks forward to another successful exchange in the host community of Prince Albert. Host families are needed for pair of youth volunteers, one from Canada and one from Nicaragua (September 20 – December 18, 2011).

Integration into a family and volunteer work with local agencies and organizations are key goals of the program.

They allow youth volunteers an opportunity to learn about the region as well as the local lifestyle and culture.

What Canada World Youth looks for in host families is an openness and enthusiasm to share part of their home life with two young people, and likewise, to allow their lives to be enriched by these new relationships. Host families receive a weekly allowance of $168.

Canada World Youth is a private, non-profit organization that offers young people a non-formal education program based on community and international development.

The program is carried out through exchanges between young Canadians, 17 to 24 years of age, and young people in Asia, Latin America, Africa, the Caribbean, and Central and Eastern Europe.

CWY is funded by private donors and by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

Once again, this year’s Canada World Youth exchange between Prince Albert and Nicaragua will start in June in Nicaragua.

Youth volunteers will come to Prince Albert on September 20, 2010, to begin the three-month Canadian phase here.
