Physicians give notice in Shellbrook

Three doctors have given their notice  — they will leave Shellbrook by the end of July.

Currently the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region is looking for options to continue acute care services in the Shellbook hospital.

“The Health Region is committed to maintaining both emergency department and inpatient services in Shellbrook,” Dr. Brenda Hookenson, co-Senior Medical Officer for the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region said in a press release.

There are currently seven physicians in Shellbrook and at least four are needed to maintain a call rotation.

More information is being made available to media this afternoon at a press conference, keep checking back for details.
