“The Project for which the team was nominated was the Indigo “ For the Love of Reading” project for Westview Community School. The school received funding to bring 257 students to Indigo in Saskatoon over 3 consecutive years to choose $17,100.00 worth of books for the school library. Allan Pasloski and the ICEHAWKS generously donated their bus and all the travel expenses, for the 3 year period, to transport the students which allowed the school to purchase almost $15,000.00 in books instead of paying for these transportation costs. Once the students received their books, the school hosted a celebration with the families and Allan and five players ( Barrett Madsen, Mitchell Corfmat, Brandon Tomiak, Austin Severson, Brad Hoffart ) attended and read to students. Allan and the ICEHAWKS have been a great influence on Westview Community School and provided students with an experience that they will never forget.”
The ICEHAWKS also picked up a bus load of students and parents at Westview and treated them to a game against the Westleys last winter. The Icehawks also supported “Coats for the North” gathering coats for Northern Communities and “Helping Hands” to raise money for Juvenile Diabetes.
