RCMP investigating fatal fire north of Melfort

Melfort RCMP are investigating after human remains were found in a burned-out home north of the town.

Mounties aren't releasing many details, but say the fire happened sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

So far the remains have not been identified, but an is autopsy scheduled Wednesday in Saskatoon.

The is no word on what caused the fire.

Regina Major Crimes, Prince Albert Forensic Identification Section, RCMP Fire Scene Examination Unit, Saskatchewan Office of the Fire Commissioner, and the Office of the Chief Coroner for Saskatchewan are all assisting with the investigation.
